Cork City FC manager Tommy Dunne was presented with his UEFA Pro Licence before last Tuesday’s international friendly fixture between the Republic of Ireland and Uruguay.
The UEFA Pro Licence is the highest coaching qualification awarded by UEFA, and can be undertaken following completion of the A and B Licences. It came at an expense of €5,000 to Dunne himself. The final qualificaion involved writing a 15,000 word report on a foreign club of Dunne's choosing. He went for FC Harlem in the Netherlands.
Speaking to CorkCityFC.net, Cork City Chairman John O’Sullivan said: “On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to congratulate Tommy on being officially awarded his Pro Licence. The UEFA coaching qualifications form an important part of the FAI Club Licensing process, designed to ensure the highest standards apply at all clubs. The Pro Licence is the top coaching qualification awarded by UEFA, there are very few Pro licence holders involved in the Airtricity League currently, and we are all aware that Tommy has put a lot of time and hard work into achieving this.”
