Kenny: first White House visit
Cork County Board have called for fair play after the Rebel County's 2010 GAA All-Ireland Football winning captain Graham Canty (pictured left lifting Sam) was snubbed for a trip to Washington on Saint Patrick's Day.
Tipperary’s All - Ireland -winning hurling captain Eoin Kelly was invited to the White House to meet Barack Obama along with footballer of the year Bernard Brogan but there was no invite for Canty. The two GAA stars will accompany new Taoiseach Enda Kenny in meeting the U.S. President.
Cork PRO Ger Lane said: "We don’t know what the criteria was but we can confirm that Graham was not invited. I suppose we’d be saying it should be like with like. If it was the captain of Tipperary it should be the captain of Cork too. If it was player of the year in hurling, it should be player of the year in football."
