When the tie seemed over, CORK come back to pip Kerry
Just like that, Cork claimed their first league win in Kingdom country since 1982. The rambunctious home crowd in Tralee were silent and reminded that the football landscape has changed down south.

While the more famous National Football League match on Sunday undoubtedly took place in Dallas, Texas, Cork got the defence of their Allianz National Football League Title off to the best possible start, with the narrowest of wins over ancient rivals Kerry in Tralee. Cork showed the mettle of champions to come back from one point adrift in injury-time to bag a hard fought win with two free-kicks from Donncha O'Connor and Daniel Goulding. Cork are bidding to become the first county to retain their National Football League Title after winning an All-Ireland Senior Football crown.
