Allardyce Axed

'Big' Sam Allardyce: axed today

The new owners of Blackburn Rovers: The Venky Group have sacked manager Sam Allardyce with immediate effect. Assistant-Manager Neil McDonald has also been relieved of his post. While I've never been a fan of "Big Sam," he can consider himself unlucky, because this is the second time that club's he has been manager of (the other being Bolton Wanderers) that have been taken over by new owners when he was manager. Of course, when new owners come in, they usually want to bring in a new manager - "their" man so to speak. Mick McCarthy and Alex Ferguson are the only two managers of English League clubs to have kept their job for more than a season after new owners took over their football club.

Chris Hughton (below) has been installed as the early favourite to take over as Blackburn manager. Whatever happens, Chris is sure to have a bright future in football management.
