Prime Minister David Cameron said at the turning on of the Olympic Stadium lights: "This is a national success story. The venue has been built to inspire our athletes. On this track we're going to out-run the Americans, in that velodrome we're going to out-cycle the French and in those pools, yes, we're going out-swim the Australians" - quite the rousing speech from Prime Minister Cameron - though he definitely looks too geeky to have ever been a competitive sportsperson.
