Graeme McDowell: RTÉ Sports Personality of the Year 2010

McDowell: Triple Champion (US Open/Ryder Cup/Sports Personality)

U.S. Open Golf winner Graeme McDowell has been named RTÉ/Irish Sports Council Sports Personality of the Year 2010 at the ceremony in Donnybrook, Dublin. McDowell also sank the winning putt this year at the Ryder Cup in Celtic Manor, Wales as Europe pipped the United States by one point to reclaim the trophy. McDowell said: "As a golfer, playing in a team event is always that bit different, that extra bit special because it's so rare for us. The pressure was on me to sink the winning putt on the last green at the Ryder Cup. It was a pressure I didn't want, but I dealt with it. Winning the U.S. Open was very different. Winning a Major is a hard graft, a hard four days. To win at Pebble Beach, one of the World's greatest golf courses, on Father's Day with my dad in the crowd - it was a script you almost couldn't write."

The Irish Men's Amateaur Boxing Team was named RTÉ/Irish Sports Council Team of the Year.
