Chris Hughton's former assistant has his say
Colin Calderwood (left) and Chris Hughton
Chris Hughton's former assistant at St. James' Park; Colin Calderwood (who has moved on to become Hibernian's boss), has said: "I don't think there's a player in the Newcastle United dressing room who'll be happy at this decision (i.e. the decision to sack Hughton). Usually there are players who are glad to see the back of a manager - mainly players that are not playing - but not in this case. Chris was deeply liked by everyone at the club and Chris did a fantastic job. I am very sad to see him go. If the owner felt that Chris didn't have enough experience to manage in the Premier League, then why was this decision not made in the summer? This was the perfect chance to give the club stability and Chris was the manager to bring that stability."
