Touching tribute from Wolves' chairman

Steve Morgan (left) publicly backs manager Mick McCarthy

In an unusual move on Sunday; Wolves owner Steve Morgan came onto the Molineux pitch to shake hands with manager MICK McCARTHY after Wolves had beaten Birmingham. It was an unusual tribute - and indeed a touching one - as Morgan showed his backing to the former Ireland player and manager, who had been under considerable media pressure as the Black Country outfit had slipped to second bottom of the Barclays Premier League.
Mick McCarthy is now one of only two Premier League managers (the other being "Sir" Alex Ferguson of Manchester United), to have survived for longer than one season after the club they manage was taken over by a new owner. Steve Morgan OBE took over as Wolves manager in summer 2007 - a year after Mick McCarthy had become manager.
