Qatar 2022; the strangest location ever for a World Cup

Doha Port Stadium, Doha, Expected Capacity: 44,000+

Incomes in Qatar exceed US$68,000 per annum per capita - one of the highest in the World.

The yet to be constructed stadia will be indoors and must be air conditioned as temperatures exceed 50°C in the summer time. This is hardly ideal, not least because the air conditioning will cost tens of millions of dollars and will hardly be beneficial to the ozone layer.

There are also major question marks over human rights leglislation in Qatar. Homosexuality is illegal in the emirate, but of course these major tournaments tend to go to the nations with the big (BIG) bucks.
