DONAL Óg Cusack is among an impressive array of GAA stars set to appear at a coaching conference in CIT on Saturday, February 5th. The All-Star Rebel goalkeeper will be joined by former inter-county stars Jamesie O'Connor, Declan Browne, George O'Connor and football coaching expert John Morrison, who was  involved with Mayo when they reached the 2006 All-Ireland Football Final. Strength and conditioning expert Mark McManus will also share his views/expertise.
The organising committee are offering a very practical programme on the day for coaches of both hurling and football. The title of the conference is "Unlocking the Potential", and, as key-note speaker, Cusack will discuss getting the right message to players.
The aim of the course is to give those involved with teenage players ideas on coaching best practice, while incorporating the most modern systems to ensure players develop the technical and physical side of their games.
The guest coaches doing the sessions are:
  • Dónal Óg Cusack,  All-Star and 3 time All-Ireland winning Cork goalkeeper.
  • Mark McManus, Cork senior hurling physical coach.
  • George O'Connor, (pictured right) former Wexford All-Ireland winning player (1996) and current Games Development Administrator in Leinster.
  • Jamsie O'Connor, (pictured below), former Clare All-Ireland hurling winner (1995) and coach of Saint Flannan's Dr. Harty Cup side.
  •  Declan Browne, former Tipperary All-Star footballer.
